Find a fraction equivalent to 1/3 with denominator 6.

  1. We need the bottom to go from 3 to 6. That means multiply by 2.
  2. Multiply top and bottom by 2: (1 x 2) / (3 x 2) = 2/6.
  3. 1/3 = 2/6. They are equivalent!

Answer: 2/6
